Jacqueline Comerre-Paton was born in Paris on 1 May 1859. She is the wife of the academic painter Leon Comerre (1850-1916), Rome prize whose reputation for fashionable painters was quickly established in the year 1880. It was Alexandre Cabanel student. The workshop of the master was one of the most renowned of the capital and its central place in the art world explains the craze that pushed many young people to register. The choice of teacher was indeed crucial for students who could qualify as "student ...", and count on the support of his master for the competition, prices, admissions rooms. Teaching Cabanel was based in part on the accuracy of the drawing, which remains the base. Jacqueline Paton-Comerre will specialize in paintings of peasant girls to rest, often wearing an apron and a scarf that identifies their condition. It will remain faithful to the teaching of his master, ignoring the Impressionist avant-garde.
